I wanted to be reading so much more than I did this month. The fall season is my favorite time of the year for books but life just kept getting in the way! Starting a new school year while narrowing down colleges/sorting out applications on top of my normal schedule made this period super hectic and I’m still working on finding a balance. I did have the incredible opportunity to attend MCM x Comic Con, London’s biggest Comic Con festival which was also hosting some amazing authors! I got to meet Veronica Roth and saw panels with Stanley Tucci, V.E. Schwab and more so it was a really fun day. But now it’s time for us to get into the books!

Reading Sadie last month put me into a thriller-y mood which had me excited going into spooky season but unfortunately Family of Liars and Little White Lies quickly killed that buzz for me :/ Both books fell super flat and I found myself over the rich people drama before it began. Black Shield Maiden had things looking up and then I flew through Divergent in preparation for meeting the author so I’m feeling more ready now to take on a new set of books in November!

And the best book I read this month was…

Black Shield Maiden by Willow Smith and Jess Hendel! This was such a rich historical saga which had incredible character arcs and such an inspiring story. I can’t wait for the future installments!

One response to “October Wrap-Up 2024!”

  1. Hey there to you!  Always a treat to receive your latest Art of Reading and glad you’re doing well even though you’re really busy!  I’m always so proud of you with your ability to allocate your time so well and even get in some reading! I’ve hit a dry spell because the last two books I’ve gotten from the library haven’t been very good even though I had read those authors books before!  I needed you to critique them before I checked them out, haha! I hope your university selection process is going smoothly and I’m sure you’ll make the right decision and whichever school you choose will welcome such a well qualified student! I love you and miss you! Granddad
