~My Thoughts~

Any book pitched as The Hunger Games meets Jurassic Park is going to instantly intrigue me, so I’m really glad that this one lived up to my expectations! I will say that it seemed to be geared towards younger teens as, though it did get a bit violent at times, it was nowhere near the intensity level of The Hunger Games. The plot was definitely the highlight of the book. The action never slowed and I enjoyed how it kept me guessing up until the end. I also liked the mystery element and am excited to learn more of Storm’s parentage in the next books!

As for Storm herself, I think the author did a good job of capturing the internal struggle she faced in regards to the dinosaurs. She had no family tying her to the mainland so had nothing to stop her from genuinely caring for the animals, but she also recognized what protecting them would cost her friends and it created this war in her mind that was executed really well. There were a couple of times when her tone turned whiny in conversations with the other characters which I thought wasn’t consistent with her character and also just made her seem selfish but I only noticed this two or three times, so nothing major enough to affect my feelings of the book as a whole.

Overall, this book told a really fun story. I didn’t think it was anything ground-breaking, but I had a good time reading it and am looking forward to continuing with this series sometime in the future! Happy Reading 🙂
