I have been loving reading lately! It’s such a good feeling and definitely arrived at the perfect time as I decided to tackle my first Dark Academia this month, Babel. It was slow going and basically put my entire fall tbr plans on the back-burner but it was worth it! In other news, I was able to spend two wonderful weeks with my grandparents who came to visit and my university course is now in full swing which I’m really enjoying so I’d say it’s been a good month overall 😊

Books Read:

Even though I was reading Babel for almost the entire month, I still managed to fit in five others (!) on the side including The Ballad of Songbirds in Snakes which I binge read in two days for a book club 😅

And the best book I read this month (besides The Hunger Games of course) was…

Babel! There were so many incredibly detailed layers to this book and each one was brilliantly executed. The characters were genuine and consistent and I loved the world-building behind the fantasy element of silver-working and how it incorporated the use of translation. There were also hard lessons to be learned from this book as it delves into themes of colonialism and institutional racism. Though it is slow going, don’t be intimidated to pick it up as it is surprisingly readable once you get into it and definitely worth the read in the end!
